That is one of my favorite openers (including the pre-written joke, shame). I love the clash when one person believes that supposedly outrageous behavior is commonplace. The segment ended up almost as good as I expected it to, and few have them have done that.

There’s a wordpad document of other topics that we never got to, and some that we most likely wouldn’t have ever. I feel like all of them atleast make interesting blog topics. Lets explore!

I am still convinced that the best belittling banter in We Hit & Run’s history would’ve involved Chris Shepherd. When Jeff from Jim & Them first came onto the shows, he was in this role on We Hit & Run. We poured piss on his face, threw darts at him, and fed him a pet fish. This form of abusive broadcasting is one of the many factors that got me hooked on The Hideout. This is a great example of the bit where supposedly outrageous behavior is considered commonplace, because as the host is abusing somebody only to retrieve the audio, he has to be in the character where it’s completely acceptable.

I feel like Chris Shepherd was perfect. I “hate” him, and I can’t pinpoint the reason. It would have been fun to explore that with Anthony and Jim.

Eh. Would’ve ended up a throwaway, most likely. It was intended to be a time filler in an extremely desperate situation. There are some shows when topics stay entertaining for up to 30-45 minutes, and others when you’re out of shit by the first break. It’s frustrating, especially since I never liked the idea of news commentary on WHAR. It takes away from what the show was about. And say what you will about Howard Stern, but one thing I’ve come to respect about his show is that he can take the most meaningless topic (cupcake day is cancelled or something) and make it interesting for an hour. The point of WHAR was to be interesting, not funny–and hope the funny happened along the way.

Zane Willard, the mastermind between most of the art that you’ll find on any of the Real Kid Radio websites, responded to that with this:

As pertains to the Anthony Saunders form of We Hit & Run… I don’t think so. I reserve comment on the future of We Hit & Run in general, because I know I’m not going to let it die. I’ll let it fizzle and fizzle and fizzle and fizzle, but it’ll just keep fizzling. I’m too stubborn to actually move on from it. Although I look forward to the day when we have an “ultimate send off” with appearances from every voice that has played a role on the program, my inability to accept defeat will likely hold that off indefinitly.

Anthony Saunders embarrassed me with this “relaunch” campaign he inspired. What helps ease the shame of promoting and producing videos over a massive relaunch that only lasted 1.5 hours, is how good that 1.5 hours ended up being. “Goalie Pants” is a show that I can happily leave We Hit & Run with for a while. Knowing that this last episode is what new listeners will download first is what eases the silence for me.

My latest idea and display of my inability to move on? Maintaining We Hit & Run in a written form. The show has always been described as an “audio blog” anyway, so I see it as appropriate to use this website as such.

I’d like to expand upon my frustration with Anthony Saunders, and delve a bit into the ideas that existed for the future of We Hit & Run’s relaunch, but I am writing this on a 15 minute break.

So, join me as I keep myself afloat on the last floating log that was once the We Hit & Run Delta (that’s what ships are called, right?)

• The Dean Dogg: Anthony Saunders, the longest running and perhaps most popular cohost in We Hit & Run’s history, has officially made his return. Why did he leave? Where has he been? Has he heard all of the slandering production pieces? Where is all of this going? Kevin gets as many answers as he can.

• Butt Cherry: During WHAR’s hiatus, Kevin has acquired a new hetero-life-mate. One, despite her limited history, that has opened him up sexually.

• Death: Kevin’s fear of death is as intense as ever. He, at last, has the opportunity to confront his right-wing, alcoholic, former cohost on the subject. Anthony Saunders does his best to heal Kevin of his mental ailments.

• Twitter Death: Shellie Ross (@Military_Mom) sent this tweet the day her son died: “Please pray like never before, my 2 yr old fell in the pool.” She was met with a combination of outrage and support- Kevin, Mike, and Jeff pick their side.
